MILWAUKEE - The playoff-bound Toronto Raptors found themselves trailing the hapless Milwaukee Bucks by nine points at halftime. DeMar DeRozan made sure the Raptors recovered to continue their push for post-season position. The Toronto guard scored 15 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and the Raptors beat the Milwaukee Bucks 102-98 Saturday night to keep pace with the Chicago Bulls for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. "We cant look at a teams record, come in here and think this is going to be a cakewalk," DeRozan said. "That team came out here and played extremely hard. They kind of blindsided us and we had to fight the whole game." After the Raptors gave up 38 points in the paint to trail 56-47 at halftime, coach Dwane Casey lit into his team at halftime. "We let them shoot 58 per cent in the first half and I cant accept that," Casey said. "The first half, we were playing in mud. Standing up straight and it wasnt just the starters. Everybody who was in there." Toronto is tied the Bulls, who beat Washington on Saturday night, at 45-32 with five games to play. Milwaukee fell to an NBA-worst 14-63, guaranteeing the teams worst record in its 45-year history. "We want to win, but I think if we can play this competitive as a team every night, I think there are some better days to come," said Milwaukees John Henson, who had 23 points and nine rebounds in 39 minutes. Greivis Vasquez tied a season-high with 26 points for Toronto, which has won three consecutive games and six of seven. Vasquez, who averages 9.1 points, made up the scoring lost when starting point guard Kyle Lowry missed the game with a bruised left kneecap. "Coach jumped on us (at halftime) and we reacted pretty well," Vasquez said. "In the second half we came to play." DeRozan made six free throws in the final 24 seconds to seal the victory. "We always find ways to fight through," DeRozan said. "We tried to turn up the aggressiveness, especially in the fourth quarter." Khris Middleton scored 20 points for Milwaukee, which has lost 13 of 14 games. Middleton made 6 of 9 shots after a shooting slump in which he made 14 of 41 over the past four games. DeRozan made a pair of free throws to give the Raptors a 98-94 lead with 24 seconds left. Giannis Antetokounmpo then made two free throws to pull Milwaukee within 98-96 with 20 seconds left. DeRozan made two free throws to give Toronto a 100-96 lead with 18.6 seconds to go. Jeff Adrien dunked with 11 seconds left, but DeRozan made two more free throws to cap the scoring. Both teams played short-handed for the second consecutive night. Lowry and starting forward Amir Johnson were out with injuries for Toronto. Milwaukee had only eight players available due to injuries. The Bucks was 1 of 9 from 3-point range while Toronto was 12 of 27. "That is where the difference was," Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said. "If you look at all the other categories, I believe we outscored them in the paint, more assists. A lot of good things we did do, but the 3-point line we did not do a good job defending." There were nine lead changes in the fourth quarter, but Vasquez hit a 3-pointer to give Toronto the lead for good at 86-84 with 5:24 left. DeRozan then hit a free throw and made a 22-foot jumper to give the Raptors an 89-84 lead. The Bucks pulled within 89-88, but DeRozan scored on a driving runner and Jonas Valanciunas converted a 3-point play to give the Raptors a 94-88 lead with 1:43 to go. Cheap Arizona Cardinals Jerseys China . -- Downcast before the final game of what had been a difficult road trip, the Ottawa Senators found a way to dig out a little momentum in the desert before heading home.LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Jimmy Vaccaro thought he would offer bettors a little fun a€” and a long-shot chance at some real cash a€” when he put up a proposition this week at 25-1 odds on the Jacksonville Jaguars going winless this season. What he didnt think was that anyone would bet serious money on it.We had it up for about two hours and a kid came in and wanted to bet $1,000 on it, Vaccaro said. I told them to write it up.Some proof, perhaps, that people will bet on anything. But Vaccaro doesnt mind risking a $25,000 payout in a football season that has proven quite profitable so far for most of the legal bookies in this gambling city.I dont gloat about it because it can change, said Vaccaro, who helps run the sports book at the South Point hotel-casino. But its been the best Ive seen for quite a while. That football is big business in sports books comes as little surprise. The sport accounts for more than half of all sports betting revenue at the books, which won some $202 million last year on record wagering of $3.6 billion. That was double the betting done in legal sports books just a decade ago, and all signs are this will be the biggest football season ever. The handle has been fantastic and its continuing to grow, said Johnny Avello, who runs the sports book at the Wynn. Weve had nothing but people betting on sports.Thats good news for the only state a€” at least for now a€” that allows full-fledged betting on sports. Even better is that the bookies are doing better than the guys on the other side of the counter so far this year.At the South Point, Vaccaro said the house has won every week of the NFL season, mostly because some key games that drew heavy action broke the right way. That was true last Sunday when the Minnesota Vikings won outright against an Atlanta Falcons team that had been bet up from a 3-point favourite to a 6-point pick.ddddddddddddYou win those type of games it puts you in a great position for the rest of the day, he said. That could change drastically, but so far, so good. The rise in sports betting has been steady over the past 10 years, though bookies say this year may end up having the biggest increase of all. Thats because football remains as popular as ever, and a new generation of younger bettors seems to have embraced it with enthusiasm.Indeed, the longstanding stigma against sports betting seems to be fading away, particularly now that daily fantasy companies offer online wagering that is strikingly similar to the proposition bets put up in sports books. And if New Jersey is successful in its current effort to join Nevada in offering sports betting, the market will only grow.If New Jersey gets it, Pennsylvania is going to get it, and California and New York will want it, said Nick Bogdanovich, the oddsmaker at William Hill U.S., which operates dozens of sports books in Nevada. There are casinos and lotteries and horse tracks in every state so what is one more form of gambling. And this one is the one you have the most chance of winning.Technically, thats true, though the skill of the best handicappers is what limits sports books to about a 5 per cent average win on money bet. Luck plays its part, too, though the bettor who put $1,000 on the Jaguars becoming the first team since the 2008 Detroit Lions to go winless through an entire season may be stretching his a bit too far.As convinced as you are that they wont win, its still awfully hard to lose them all, Vaccaro said. But wouldnt it be funny if they beat the Skins on Sunday? Then Id have to come up with something different to keep things interesting.
